This project entailed the installation of a large full food garden at the new Knysna Education trust premises on Queen Street. The Knysna Education Trust (KET) is a registered Non-profit organisation which has been providing quality services to the young children of the Knysna communities since 1993. KET is the only organisation in the area to focus exclusively on the upliftment of Early Childhood Education, and has significant experience working alongside and supporting the principals and teachers at the affiliated preschools.
This garden has over 30 raised beds.

All our gardens are on-going projects. We keep our hands dirty, replant when needed and upgrade as and when funds are available. Please get in touch, offer your services or donate.
With our purchase of Melrose House we wanted to use the large garden to grow vegetables. These would be sent to the poorest of our Early Childhood Development facilities to feed their learners, many of whom are from impoverished backgrounds. Fortunately Growing Upwards had established a veggie garden at our model pre-school, The Learning Tree. Our principal there, Julie Hoffman, strongly recommended that we contact Growing Upwards to help. It soon became clear that when one involves passionate, committed, and knowledgeable people, things happen! We could not have established our garden without their help, and we are fortunate that their continued involvement has resulted in a sustainable project.
